You can find some good things on Craigslist…a toaster, a decent used Ipod and a even an amazingly talented and sweet goth black girl. I like to think of myself as unique until I meet a person like Brooke Thorne.
Brooke and I met while I was answering ads for artists seeking artists for collaboration. I noticed she lived in the next town, cool beans, I thought. I took it as a positive sign that this was a person I should reach out to and then went ahead and sent an email to introduce myself.
Fast Forward……weeks later…..and I’m smitten!
This young lady is a BEAST with her creativity. She is a model, an animator, an illustrator, a photographer and a writer. I got caught up watching the latest episode of her animated series, My Name is Raine.
You would probably not be surprised to learn that she is also an avid gamer. I strongly encourage you to read her bio; it’s the most endearing and real thing you will see in a long time. I promise you.
As any child of the 90′s will tell you, anime and cartoons ruled during those pre-cable days. Brooke has been drawing, drafting digital art and storyboards professionally since she the age of thirteen. I’m secretly jealous of her youth because these mediums didn’t exist back in the ice age of my childhood.
Her artwork is a manga/anime mashup with quirky and dark themes often consisting of a lone female character looking slightly out of place in her skin which is something that I can totally relate too.
“The Midnite Silence was created six years ago when I was thirteen years old. It is the internal pain that I’ve held in for many years that is seen throughout my art. At midnight, I felt a change upon me. It was a dark presence that left me in silence. “BROOKE
Brooke publishes her work under the name Aurora Eliptica. You can view her recent creations on her site Midnight Silence.
Brook’s Youtube page features yet another highlight of her immense skill. Once you check that out you can become a Fan of the My Name is Raine series on Facebook.
Oh, by the way, Miss Brooke is also a model AND photographer.
She’s quite striking, don’t you think?
